Business

Answer:

Explanation:

(a) i. Payment = $7000

For cash flow payment = $750 (Per year at 5%, for 12 years)

= 750*8.863

= $6697.25

This shows it is better to receive $7000 right now.

ii. FV = $10000

PV = FV(P/F, 5%, 10 years)

= 10000*0.6139

= $6139

And Payment of $1000 per year, for 5 years

PV = 1000 (per year at 5%, for 5 years)

= $1000*7.722

= $7722

It is better to get $1000 per year for 5 years

(b)i. PV = $1000

fV = $1402.55

Interest = i

by formula

1000 = 1402.55 (p/f, i, 5)

1000 =\frac{1402.55}{(1 + i)^{5} }

\sqrt[5]{(1 + i)^5} = \sqrt[5]{\frac{1402.55}{1000} }

1 + i = 1.069

Collect like terms

i = 1.069 - 1

i = 0.069

i ≈ 7%

ii. PV = $166666.67

Perpetuity = 15000

interest is unknown

166666.67 = 15000/i

i = 15000/166666.67

i = 0.089

i ≈ 9%

With only two goods, if the income effect is in the same direction as the substitution effect then the good is ____.
Leya [2.2K]

Answer:

Normal good

Explanation:

Income effect Is change in quantity demanded when the consumers purchasing power change as a result of a change in real income.

Substitution effect is when quantity demanded falls as a result of rise in price of a good which leads consumers to purchase cheaper alternatives.

A normal good is a good whose demand increases as income increases.

If the price of a normal good falls, the real purchasing power of the consumer increases and the consumer buys more of the good. Also, the consumer substituites from more expensive alternative goods to the more cheap normal good. The income and substitution effect both move in the same direction.

Sedbober [7]

Answer:

$-7033.54

Explanation:

Net present value is the present value of after-tax cash flows from an investment less the amount invested.

NPV can be calculated using a financial calculator

Cash flow = net income + deprecation

Straight line depreciation expense = (Cost of asset - Salvage value) / useful life

($45,300  - $7,500) / 3 = $12,600

Cash flow = $12,600 + $2000 = $14,600

Cash flow in year 0 = $-45,300

Cash flow in year 1 =  $14,600

Cash flow in year 2 =  $14,600

Cash flow in year 3 =  $14,600 + $7,500 = $22,100

I = 15%

NPV = $-7033.54

To find the NPV using a financial calculator:

1. Input the cash flow values by pressing the CF button. After inputting the value, press enter and the arrow facing a downward direction.

2. after inputting all the cash flows, press the NPV button, input the value for I, press enter and the arrow facing a downward direction.

3. Press compute
