In the hospital, the doctors tell Johnny he will never be able to walk again. Johnny struggles to survive for a few days after suffering his terrible injuries and has an emotional conversation with Ponyboy about his physical condition. Unfortunately, Johnny is unable to recover from his injuries and dies in the hospital.
