-Many machines were formed in cities to serve immigrants to the U.S. in the late 19th century who viewed machines as a vehicle for political enfranchisement. Machine workers helped win elections by turning out large numbers of voters on election day.

It was his dream to establish an independent Vietnamese country.  He would first fight with the French who he would later defeat and become the leader of North Vietnam.  Later on the North and South fought each other and despite U.S. support, the South was defeated and Vietnam was united under communist rule. But also, to gain Vietnams independence from France.
