First you would want to add all like terms. So add -2x and -x which will give you the equation -3x+8=?. Now you want to get 8 on the other side to simplify the equation even more so subtract 8 on both sides. -3x=-8. Finally you want to isolate x by dividing by -3 on both sides which will leave you with x=8/3 or x=2 2/3

method

open bracket

6x^2-2x-3+x^2-3x+1

collect like terms

6x^2+2x^2-3-3x+1

8x^2-3-3x+1

again collect like terms

8x^2-2x-3x-3+1

8x^2-5x-3+1. (-×-=+ addition but keeping sign minus

8x-5x-2. (-×+=-)

1) Your friend Taylor missed class today and needs some help identifying solutions of systems. Explain to Taylor where to find t
Mashcka [7]

Answer:

Ques 1:

Let us consider the system of equations,

2x+y=3 and 3x-y=2

It is known that 'The intersection points of the graphs of the system of equations are the solutions of the system of equations'.

So, after plotting the given graphs, we see that from the first graph,

The only intersection point is (1,1).

Thus, the solution of the system is x= 1 and y= 1.

Ques 2:

We have the functions, f(x)= 2x+1 and g(x)= 2x^2+1.

Plotting the graphs of both the functions is shown by graph 2, we see that,

The intersection points are (0,1) and (1,3)

Hence, the function have equal values only at x= 0 and x= 1 but not at x= 3.

The cost C of moving rubble is proportional to the product of the mass M of the rubble and the distance D the rubble must be mov
Mandarinka [93]

Answer:

a) C(M,D) = KMD

b) $12,000

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given the following information in the question:

The cost C of moving rubble is proportional to the product of the mass M of the rubble and the distance D the rubble must be moved.

This can be written as:

a)

C \propto M\times D\\C = KMD,\\\text{where K is the constant of proportionality.}

C(M,D) = KMD

b) It costs 50 dollars to move 1 ton of rubble 1 mile

50 = K\times 1\times 1\\\Rightarrow K= 50

We have to find  cost to move 16 tons 15 miles.

Putting the values in the function:

C(16,15) = 50\times 16\times 15 = 12000

Thus, $12,00 is the cost to move 16 tons 15 miles.
