If five times the smaller of two numbers is subtracted from twice the larger the result is 16 if the larger is increased by thre
Rudiy27

Answer:

Smaller Number = 10

Larger Number = 33

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the smaller number be "x" and the larger number be "y"

5 TIMES smaller is SUBTRACTED from TWICE larger, the result is 16, we can write:

2y - 5x = 16

and

Larger increased by 3 TIMES SMALLER, result is 63, so we can write:

y + 3x = 63

We can write this in terms of x, as:

y = 63 - 3x

Now we put this in equation 1 and solve for x first:

2y - 5x = 16

2(63 - 3x) - 5x = 16\\126-6x-5x=16\\11x=110\\x=10

Now,

y = 63 - 3x

y = 63 - 3(10)

y = 63 - 30

y = 33

Smaller Number = 10

Larger Number = 33

Need help for these problems please
9966 [12]

Answer:

The answer to your question is:

Step-by-step explanation:

1.-

  y = 84°

  5x - 61 = 84

  5x = 84 + 61

   5x = 145

  x = 29

2.-

  m∠1 + m∠6 = 180   they are supplementary angles

  ∠1 = 180 - 143

 ∠1 = 37

 ∠1 = ∠ 3 because are vertical angles.

3.-

m∠2 + m∠5 = 180    they are supplementary angles

∠2 + 79 = 180

∠2 = 180 - 79

∠2 = 101

m∠3 = m∠5   they are alternate angles

2x/x-3 - 6/x-3 . I need a step by step explanation , please
Harman [31]
When adding/subtracting fractions you need a common denominator, but you already have one, which is x-3.  So in general:

a/c-b/c=(a-b)/c so you just have:

(2x-6)/(x-3)  now if you factor 2 from the numerator

2(x-3)/(x-3)  the (x-3)s cancel out leaving

2

However!  Note that division by zero is undefined, so x cannot equal 3.  (because both original fractions had denominators of x-3)

What this all means is that that expression will equal 2 for all real values of x other than 3.
