Answer: d. The firm's cash position in 2015 and 2016 would increase.

Explanation:

The financila statements had been calculated with the view that fixed assets would be depreciated over a 20 year period. However, it was discovered that the assest should be depreciated over 15 years instead. This reduction in the period would have the effect for increasing the depreciation payment.

For example, say the asset cost $20,000 and was originally to be depreciated over 20 years using Straight Line Depreciation. This means that the depreciation per year would be,

= \frac{20,000}{20}

= $1,000 a year.

If it was however discovered that it was supposed to be 15 years that figure would go to,

= \frac{20,000}{15}

= $1,333.33 a year

Notice how depreciation increased. Lucy's Music emporium will therefore see their depreciation cost rise. Depreciation is subtracted from revenue as it is tax deductible. When Lucy's Emporium deduct this new depreciation, they will have less profit. They will be taxed on this less profit and so pay a lower tax. This will thus increase their cash holdings because Depreciation is a non cash expense and does not actually require a cash payment.

MAVERICK [17]

Answer:

By implementing the food safety compliance policy, the food company would only make sure that the food they have given is safely consumable, but by putting consumer safety first, the companies would go beyond the attempts to avoid fine and take special measures to ensure true safety of the consumers.

Explanation:

 • Though the Food and Drug Administration of the United States bears the responsibility of food safety and is accountable towards both, the public and the government, it would not be possible without the cooperation of the food companies to ensure utter food safety for the public.
 • With stringent supervision and the companies sticking to the norms and regulations put by the supervising agencies, it would be possible to eradicate the problems caused by food contamination.

Natasha_Volkova [10]

Answer:

The correct answer is letter "C": the quantity of coffee sold can increase if the supply curve shifts to the right.

Explanation:

The demand theory establishes the relationship between the price of a good or service and the quantity demanded. If the price rises, the quantity demanded lowers -the demand curve moves to the left. If the price lowers, the quantity demanded rises -the demand curve moves to the right.

The supply theory states a direct interaction between the price of a good or service and the quantity supplied. It means if the price rises, the quantity supplied rises -the supply curve moves to the right. If the price lowers, the quantity supplied lowers -the supply curve moves to the left.

In this case, as the demand for the coffee has expanded, it could increase if the demand rises. If the demand rises there must be more supply of coffee which implies moving the supply curve to the right.
