The stance of the Whig dissent occur when the Whig party opposed going to the Mexican war in the year 1846 to 1848, Although the party practically consider that despite opposing going to the Mexican war, They must consider voting for fund and supplies to assist the army that are fighting the war.

The idea was tackled by a rival faction of conscience whigs whose stance was that if going to the war was wrong, Then supporting the fighting is also wrong either through voting for fund or giving supplies to assist the army fighting it.
