It is important because it establishes the constitution as the supreme law of the land. That means that every person, regardless of their social status, and every state, regardless of their wealth or size, have to obey the constitution. If the supreme court says that something is unconstitutional then it will never be able to exist, and if they say that something has to be done then it will have to be done because of the constitution.
Since a continuum is something that keeps changing over time, and Israel, a nation regarded as the holy land by a significant amount of people, among them, the Jewish population, Christians and Muslims, due to the number of times that area has been renamed, destroyed, rebuilt and inhabited by a variety of different groups of people up until today, and because the state of Israel is still uncertain due its partial recognition status, Israel is experiencing a location continuum.
I would say the benefits would be for example the right to vote in elections, the right to avail themselves of economic opportunities, the right to a higher education and the right to travel freely around the US and the right to form communities of similar ethnic and historical background such as the Latinamericans in the San Fernando Valley.,
