Answer: The quotes "Fifty degrees below zero meant 80 degrees of frost", "The dog made quick  efforts to get the ice off its legs." and "As he laughed,  he noted the numbness in his bare fingers."

Explanation: The story narrates the experience of the main character facing  different challenges that come with coldness. He was not very good at foreseeing the consequences of some facts. He knew "Fifty degrees below zero meant 80 degrees of frost", but he didn't imagine man's weakness to extreme temperatures. It also mentions the experience of his companionship; "The dog made quick  efforts to get the ice off its legs." it shows that the dog was struggling with the ice made by the wheather too. And finally "As he laughed,  he noted the numbness in his bare fingers.", implying that his fingers were so frozen that he couldn't move them.

blondinia [14]

The answer is Television and radio, but not print media like newspapers; because in theory, anyone can start his own newspaper and express his point of view whereas the number of people who can participate in radio and television is limited by broadcast frequencies.

The fairness doctrine is a law that required broadcasters to present issues of public matter and do it showing the contrasting arguments in the same channel or radio station as well, to make sure people were exposed to several points of view.
