Find 3 direct quotes in the story that portray how cold it is outside in To Build a Fire

Answer: The quotes "Fifty degrees below zero meant 80 degrees of frost", "The dog made quick efforts to get the ice off its legs." and "As he laughed, he noted the numbness in his bare fingers."

Explanation: The story narrates the experience of the main character facing different challenges that come with coldness. He was not very good at foreseeing the consequences of some facts. He knew "Fifty degrees below zero meant 80 degrees of frost", but he didn't imagine man's weakness to extreme temperatures. It also mentions the experience of his companionship; "The dog made quick efforts to get the ice off its legs." it shows that the dog was struggling with the ice made by the wheather too. And finally "As he laughed, he noted the numbness in his bare fingers.", implying that his fingers were so frozen that he couldn't move them.

Well, Its whatever the author is talking about. it's depending on the book or story. Like the Genre. It Varies, so he might be implying that it really is a glamorous piece of work or he is being sarcastic. Words and the way\ tone you use is very important.

svet-max [94.6K]
In the poem "Counting Small-boned Bodies" written by Robert Bly, Bly creates a sort of sympathy for his readers. A bit of innocence is shed on the readers as they learn what happens to the war victims. Their bodies sit there serving as nothing but a trophy for the world to commemorate the war. Bly states all the things that they could serve purposes for but none that which will happen.

kondaur [170]

Explanation:

i think she wouldn't change her mind because of the way she deals with every single bad situation she has gotten into. She was hiding from everyone and she was probably afraid to death, but she managed to find something good and positive. She would do the exact same thing there, she got really sick and died from typhus just a few days before everyone in her camp were saved but I believe that even in her worst days she found something to smile about. if nothing else, at least she could remember the more beautiful moments and laugh at them while hoping to be saved
