The Supreme Court case of Brown versus board of education (1954) ruled unanimously that racial segregation of children in public schools - the so-called separate-but-equal amendment - was unconstitunional. Linda Brown was an afro american girl in Topeka, Kansas. And that´s a long way from Birmingham, Alabama. Nevertheless, there was a Birmingham campaign of Southern Christians (Protestants I guess) who helped organize civil rights protests that finally ended segregation of all public spheres in the city of Birmingham, Alabama, in 1963.
