Haiti Revolution broke out in 1791. The main leader of this revolution was Toussaint Louverture. Toussaint signed treaties with Spain, which gave him hope that he might defeat the French.

Explanation:

Touissant L'Ouverture also known as 'The Black Napoleon', because of his uprising revolt in Haiti, which led to the decline of slavery in Haiti. Touissant L'Ouverture was born in Saint Domingue, as a slave. Haiti was a French colony where sugar plantation done with the help of slavery. Toussaint Louverture led a  successful slave mutiny and freed the slaves in the French colony. L'ouverture switch sides after the news of a further shift in the French Revolution introduced to Jacobins to hold power. During the second phase of the revolution, L'Ouverture forced the planters (white) to flee from the entire island of Hispaniola. Napoleon Bonaparte wanted to reintroduce slavery in Haiti by pressing the slave revolt. He sent French troops to restore the French rule in Haiti that was in place before.
