One novel I read was called Backlash by Sarah Littman. The story was about a girl who was heavily depressed who develops a relationship with a catfish on an app, then proceeds to attempt bad things when he tells her too. One example of suspense was when:

Bree, the girl who was catfishing the main character Lara in the form of Christian, told Lara to kill her own self when Bree found out Lara made the cheer team and she didn't.

One form of humor would be when Bree talks to the head cheerleader on why Bree was a problem athlete on the team. giving us another prespective on other people see the antagonist.
