Answer:

size of small rectangle ( 10.15)

size of large rectangle ( 15 , 20 )

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the small rectangle have length x and breadth y . Let the larger rectangle have length x + 5 and breadth y + 5

perimeter of small rectangle = 2 ( x + y )

perimeter of large rectangle = 2 ( x + y + 10 )

= 2( x + y ) + 20

difference = 20

Now area of small rectangle = xy

area of large rectangle = ( x + 5 ) ( y + 5 )

given ( x + 5 ) ( y + 5 ) = 2 xy

xy + 5 ( x + y ) + 25 = 2xy

5 ( x + y ) + 25 = xy

finding the solution of this equation by trial and error

put x = 10 and y = 15

5 ( 10 + 15 ) + 25 = 150

xy = 10 x 15 = 150

so,

x = 10 , y = 15

size of large rectangle

= 10 + 5 = 15 and

15 + 5 = 20

size of small rectangle ( 10.15)

size of large rectangle ( 15 , 20 )

When a number is decreased by 17% the result is 15. what is the original number?
Stels [109]

Answer:

original number is 18.07

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the original number be x

x - 17% of x = 15

x* (1 - 0.17) = 15

x * 0.83 = 15

x = 15/0.83

x = 18.072289156

Or if your wording meant 17% of a number is 15 then:

x * 17% = 15

x *0.17 = 15

x = 15/0.17 = 88.23529...

but I think you meant "decreased by 17%" so I choose x = 18.07

Which equation describes the pattern of the data in the table?
slega [8]

Answer:

Option A. y = 4x

Step-by-step explanation:

From the question given above, the following data were obtained:

X >> Y

3 >> 12

4 >> 16

5 >> 20

6 >> 24

7 >> 28

Next, we shall use each of the options to obtain the first two value of y to which will correspond to the table above. This is illustrated below:

For Option A:

1. y = 4x

x = 3

y = 4 × 3

y = 12

2. y = 4x

x = 4

y = 4 × 4

y = 16

For Option B:

1. y = 4x + 12

x = 3

y = 4(3) + 12

y = 12 + 12

y = 24

2. y = 4x + 12

x = 4

y = 4(4) + 12

y = 16 + 12

y = 28

For Option C:

1. y = ¼ x

x = 3

y = ¼ × 3

y = ¾

2. y = ¼ x

x = 4

y = ¼ × 4

y = 1

For Option D:

1. y = ¼x + 12

x = 3

y = ¼(3) + 12

y = ¾ + 12

y = 51/4

2. y = ¼x + 12

x = 4

y = ¼(4) + 12

y = 1 + 12

y = 13

From the calculations made above, only option A ie. y = 4x correspond to the data given in the table above.

kozerog [31]

Answer:

Price of senior citizen ticket = $7

Price of student ticket = $5

Step-by-step explanation:

Let:

 • senior citizen ticket price = a
 • student ticket price = b

Equations formed :

 1. 9a + 10b = 113
 2. 2a + 10b = 64

Subtract : Equation 1 - Equation 2

 • 9a + 10b - 2a - 10b = 113 - 64
 • 7a = 49
 • a = 7

Finding b

 • 2(7) + 10b = 64
 • 10b = 50
 • b = 5

Solution

 • Price of senior citizen ticket = $7
 • Price of student ticket = $5
