Find a straight edge, mark the 0.5ft mark onto the straight edge that way it becomes a 0.5ft "ruler". Move the straight edge next to the mark and add another 0.5 ft.
It may seem unclear so if you have more questions you can ask in the comments :)

She should see how far she's gone then do that exact meausement she did, a second time, and youll find 1 foot, because 0.5 + 0.5 =1

A gerbil cage, priced at $18, is discounted 20% for one week, and then this price is marked up 20%. is the price back to 20% expl
stiks02 [169]
No, it isn't!

first, the discount is 20 percent of 18 dollars, that is 18/5=3.6

this means that during the first week the prize is 18-3.6=14.4

now, the prize is marked up 20 % of 14.4! this is 2.88

so the prize later will be 14.4+2.88, that is 17.28, not 18

what is relevant here is what a number is a percent OF

maria claims that any fraction located between 1/5 and 1/7 on a number line must have a denominator of 6. Enter a fraction that
Sedaia [141]

I want to make this clear, this is NOT MY ANSWER! Someone else has already answered this question on here I'm just pasting their answer here so you can get the full details on how it was solved.

We know that 1/5 > 1/6 > 1/7

If we change the numbers to decimals we can see what decimals we can use that are between the number 1/5 and 1/7 .

1/5=.20

1/7≈.14

We can use any number between these two decimals to create a fraction. Let us use .16

.20>.16>.14

Now we can change that number to a fraction.

.16=16/100 which reduced to 4/25

Let's verify:

1/5 > 4/25 > 1/7    find LCM

35/175 > 28/175 > 25/175

One fraction that is between 1/5 and 1/7 that does not have a denominator of 6 is 4/25.
