The answer is competition for jobs. The Chinese would do a lot of work for very little pay, most Americans couldn't keep up and were losing their jobs to these Chinese immigrants.

This is why the United States first went to Normandy to help liberation from the West, while the Soviets pushed to Berlin from the East. After they liberated Europe and Africa, they focused on Japan where the war ended quickly because of the nuclear weapons.</span>
