<span>During the high middle ages monasteries were considered religious centers as well as
centers of learning. Many monasteries also worked as schools where they taught people how to be literate and basic mathematics or similar. Many famous schools of today began as monasteries in the early days.</span>
The Kansas-Nebraska Act was passed by the U.S. Congress on May 30, 1854. It allowed people in the territories ofKansas and Nebraska to decide for themselves whether or not to allow slavery within their borders. The Actserved to repeal the Missouri Compromise of 1820 which prohibited slavery north of latitude 36°30´.
It was because they were inspired by the renewed interest in Greek and Roman culture.

<span>In the late 1800s, the Populist Movement grew out of fears resulting from the Panic of 1873 wherein the price of agricultural goods fell. Farmers began to worry that they would lose money and started a party that represented their own interests.</span>
