The correct answer is C.

Osama bin Laden was born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. His parents were wealthy and he enjoyed a privileged upbringing.

As he resented the growing Western influence on Middle Eastern life, he was looking for ways to fight what he thought were the enemies of Islam.

After the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in 1797, he traveled to Pakistan to join the resistance. He wanted to help other Muslims fight against the Soviet occupation by winning financial and moral support for the Afghan rebels.

He also ran a global recruitment network, in 1988 he created a new group called al -Qaida, which focused on terrorism acts against the West.
