How would it help the reader if the author named the sources of this information? Read this excerpt from "Herd about the Flu." T

he reader could say that he has read the books where this information was found. We can't easily predict what people will do. Some people oppose taking any vaccine. Others don't get around to it. Finally, some people may not take it because they know it doesn't always work. Unlike vaccines against measles, polio, or smallpox, today's flu shot doesn't give full immunity, or resistance, to the flu. The reader could verify the credibility of the information. The reader could learn how to avoid getting the flu. The reader could make his or her own flu shots. What is the point of a flu shot if it doesn't work, and why doesn't it always work? The flu is complex and strains change quickly. People need to be vaccinated with a new batch of vaccine every year. Vaccines must be produced long before the actual flu virus, or the strain of virus, starts to work its way through the community. Some years, scientists do a better job of predicting which strains will be common that year. Sometimes even if the scientists predict the right.

What information does the author provide about the narrator in this excerpt?
notsponge [240]

Answer:

C. The narrator sees a reflection of herself in the woman from the wallpaper and empathizes with her.

Explanation:

The passage you were given is the following excerpt from Charlotte Perkins Gilman's "The Yellow Wallpaper":

It is the same woman, I know, for she is always creeping, and most women do not creep by daylight.

I see her in that long shaded lane, creeping up and down. I see her in those dark grape arbors, creeping all around the garden.

I see her on that long road under the trees, creeping along, and when a carriage comes she hides under the blackberry vines.

I don't blame her a bit. It must be very humiliating to be caught creeping by daylight!

I always lock the door when I creep by daylight. I can't do it at night, for I know John would suspect something at once.

The correct answer is C. We can see that based on the last paragraph. At first, the narrator describes the woman from the wallpaper, who, according to her, creeps by daylight. In the end. she says: I always lock the door when I creep by daylight. This indicates that, in fact, she was talking about herself all this time as she saw a reflection of herself in the woman from the wallpaper and empathized with her.

Statement D is incorrect, as the narrator says: I don't blame her a bit, and then reveals that she herself creeps by daylight, although many women don't.

There is no information in the excerpt indicating that statements A and B could be correct.

In Ain't I a Woman by Sojourner truth she argued for equal voting rights because she lived and was subjected to the same treatment as the men.

Summary of Ain't I a Woman

According to her she gets worked up like a man and is also made to be beaten like a man, therefore she should have the same rights as the man.

The whole logic of inequality made very little sense to her.

The reason that Sojourner Truth gave here was a valid one. She said that based on the fact that she was also subjected to harsh realities as the men then they are equal and she should not have to be treated less.
