1. Stereotyping may be one of the hardest challenges we have in todays society. It would genuinely be hard to stop all stereotyping, as it is up to each individual person to change their mindset. World wide we need to educate out children and future generations. This would stop them from growing up with these set mindsets of different stereotypes of different people.
2. Stories do affect our identities quite more than we think they might. We are taught from a young age to apply yourself and make connections with the story you are reading. This really does alter how we perceive stories for the rest of our lives. When you make connections with a book, movie, or short film, it could very much alter how you choose to make decisions in your life.
Talking to the residents of my streets, you can see a very similar view among them about access to education, work and financial independence for the girls. The people I talked to are all adults, over 30, who have daughters and even sons and when I asked them about the issues, I heard very progressive and encouraging responses.
All said that girls should receive quality education at all levels and should be encouraged to seek academic, economic and social knowledge in an increasingly profound and efficient way. According to these people, these elements will give girls the minimum requirements to be successful and protect themselves from some abuses that society imposes on women. These elements will teach girls to take a stand and refuse what does not do them good or devalues them. This also serves for financial independence, where people claimed to be extremely important, giving power and freedom.
Some very interesting answers, I received from elderly women, who did not have full access to education, equal rights and financial independence when they were young and reported bad situations that they experienced and that could have been avoided if they had had these elements protected and offered to them.
