The answer is x=7 and y=3

Step-by-step explanation:

\underline{ \underline{ \text{Solution}}} :

\sf{4x - 3y = 19} ••••• equation ( i )

\sf{2x + 3y = 23} ••••• equation ( ii )

The coefficients of y are the same in both equation but the sign of 3y of equation ( i ) differs from the equation ( ii ). So , we add one equation from the other to eliminate 3y.

Adding equation ( i ) and ( ii ) , we get :

\sf{4x  \:  \cancel{ - 3y}} = 19

\sf{2x  \: \cancel{  \: + 3y}} = 23

\sf{6x  \:  \:  \: \:  \:  =  \:  \:  \:  42 }

Solve for x :

⟿ \sf{ \frac{6x}{6}  =  \frac{42}{6}}

⟿ \boxed{ \sf{x = 7}}

Now , substituting the value of x in equation ( ii ) , we get ( Remember : you can substitute the value of x in any of the equation ) :

\sf{2x + 3y = 23}

⟿ \sf{2 \times 7  + 3y = 23}

⟿ \sf{14 + 3y = 23}

⟿ \sf{3y = 23 - 14}

⟿ \sf{3y = 9}

⟿ \sf{ \frac{3y}{3 }  =  \frac{9}{3}}

⟿ \boxed{ \sf{y = 3}}

\red{ \boxed{\boxed{ \tt{☥ \: Our \:final \: answer :x = 7 \: and \: y = 3}}}}

The average undergraduate cost for tuition, fees, and room and board for two-year institutions last year was $13,252. The follow
kipiarov [429]

Answer:

The p-value of the test is 0.0041 < 0.05, which means that there is sufficient evidence at the 0.05 significance level to conclude that the mean cost has increased.

Step-by-step explanation:

The average undergraduate cost for tuition, fees, and room and board for two-year institutions last year was $13,252. Test if the mean cost has increased.

At the null hypothesis, we test if the mean cost is still the same, that is:

H_0: \mu = 13252

At the alternative hypothesis, we test if the mean cost has increased, that is:

H_1: \mu > 13252

The test statistic is:

We have the standard deviation for the sample, which means that the t-distribution is used to solve this question

t = \frac{X - \mu}{\frac{s}{\sqrt{n}}}

In which X is the sample mean, \mu is the value tested at the null hypothesis, s is the standard deviation and n is the size of the sample.

13252 is tested at the null hypothesis:

This means that \mu = 13252

The following year, a random sample of 20 two-year institutions had a mean of $15,560 and a standard deviation of $3500.

This means that n = 20, X = 15560, s = 3500

Value of the test statistic:

t = \frac{X - \mu}{\frac{s}{\sqrt{n}}}

t = \frac{15560 - 13252}{\frac{3500}{\sqrt{20}}}

t = 2.95

P-value of the test and decision:

The p-value of the test is found using a t-score calculator, with a right-tailed test, with 20-1 = 19 degrees of freedom and t = 2.95. Thus, the p-value of the test is 0.0041.

The p-value of the test is 0.0041 < 0.05, which means that there is sufficient evidence at the 0.05 significance level to conclude that the mean cost has increased.

A softball fits snuggly inside a cubical box that is 4 inches on each side. What is the volume of the softball that fits snuggly
Natali5045456 [20]

Answer:

33.5 cubic inches.

Step-by-step explanation:

If the softball fits perfectly inside the cubical box, the softball is a sphere with diameter of 4 inches (radius os 2 inches).

The volume of a sphere is given by:

V= \frac{4}{3}\pi r^3

For r = 2 inches:

V= \frac{4}{3}*3.14* 2^3\\V=33.5\ in^3

The volume of the softball is 33.5 cubic inches.
