Have you ever wondered what would happen if there wasn’t any zoos to go to anymore? Just imagining if your favourite animal wasn’t there anymore and soon the population control was dwindling simply or out of control even simply because we don’t have the resources to help these animals anymore. Zoos have been around for over a thousand of years and if it wasn’t for some of these zoos, some of these animals would be considered extinct. Zoos have a rich history that with conversation efforts and educating the public for future generations to come is important to know and learn what each one of us can do to help.

It’s extremely beneficial to us since we wouldn’t be able to see these animals otherwise and help the endangered species grow and be around for future generations. The zoos have specific breeding programs that help grow the species and they also do a rescue and release on the animal if it’s sick or hurt. Zoos have a lot of beneficial reasons to be around. It’s considered a safe haven for these animals that can’t survive in the wild otherwise. Hunters and poachers are dwindling resources that should be thriving, but they continue to hunt protected species and the ones they don’t kill all the way is found and either humanely euthanized or is taken to one of the wildlife resources so that they have a chance of survival especially if their young is found nearby and wouldn’t survive without its mother.

However, there are also many groups of people believe that zoos are against animal rights and inhuman. For example, a lot of animals rights advocates hold this perspective because based on researches that they did, they discovered that there is a lot difference between wild animals and zoo animals. Elephants is a great example. Wild elephants have a longer life spans than captive elephants. Wild elephants can usually live 60-70 years. However, the captive elephants usually die before the age of 40. (User, S.) The difference on the life spans between this two groups clearly shows that zoos are not doing anything good for these elephants. These elephants are able to live longer in wild instead of living in a zoo and to be watched by all kinds.

It is true that zoos are necessary in some ways, and in today’s world, zoos might be a good way to protect animals from all kinds of danger. However, in the future, animals should not be kept in zoos. Animals have their rights to live happier in their nature habitats. Based on the basic relationship between animals and humans, animals have the equal rights and freedom just like humans. We are all kinds of forms of lives on the earth. As human, we can’t put our own will on animals and do something that we believe will be good for other creatures.
