The overall message that is conveyed is that having privilege allows people to get away with terrible things. The wealthy delinquent evaluates Charles Wentworth, a boy who killed four people; he uses diction to highlight the criticism in our society. The boy uses rhetoric to emphasize criticism in our society when he explains the murders. One example of this is, is when the author compares and contrasts the privileged position of the character and the acts he committed.
