Look for the biggest number that they can all be divided by, and if there is a variable see if they can all have at least one of that variable taken away, so for example, in the numbers 20, 50, and 65 the greatest common factor is 5, there is no variable so you could just say 5 (4 + 10 + 13), however let’s say you came across 20y + 50y^4 + 65y^2, they all have at least one variable to take from so in this case you would factor using 5y, and it would look like this 5y (4 + 50y^3 + 65y). I hope that made sense, please tell me if you need further explanation and I’ll try my best to put it in an easier or more descriptive way.

How to solve:<br> 8(2)-4<br>________<br>8÷4 ?
MissTica
So the first thing you do is dove the equations. Let's do the numerator equation. 8(2)-4 is simply saying 8•2-4 and i don't know if u learned this in class yet but you do multiplication and division before addition and subtraction so 8•2=16-4=12 so now 12 is our numerator. Now for the denominator, 8/4=2 so 2 is our denominator. We have 12/2 but it can be simplified to 6 because 6 goes into 12 twice and u cans check this by doing 6•2=12
Hope this helps m8 :))

White raven [17]

Stan's, Mark's and Wayne's ages are 35 , 36 and 37 years respectively.

<em><u>Explanation</u></em>

Stan's, Mark's and Wayne's ages are <u>consecutive whole numbers</u> and Stan is the youngest and Wayne is the oldest.

So, lets assume that Stan's, Mark's and Wayne's ages are  n, n+1 and n+2

Given that, the sum of their ages is 108. So, the equation will be.....

n+(n+1)+(n+2)=108\\ \\ 3n+3=108\\ \\ 3n=108-3=105\\ \\ n=\frac{105}{3}=35

So, Stan's age is 35 years , Mark's age is (35+1)= 36 years and Wayne's age is (35+2)= 37 years.
