The inclusion of an article that gives people the right to have a trial by jury is a measure of legal protection of citizens against the possibility of unfair trial; it imposes a limitation on the power of the judicial branch, on the power of judges. It is also justified historically; trials without a jury were one of the motives of deep disatisfaction of the American colonists under British royal rule.
