Prince Henry the Navigator of Portugal’s greatest motivation for financing exploration was to find riches for his country and to increase the power of Portugal. Price Henry was the one who ordered Bartholomew Diaz to take a trip throughout the Cape of Africa. Since Prince Henry wanted to be more powerful, he desired for Portugal to arrive in Asia before England does.

If there is only so much wealth in the world and a country must hold the most wealth to have the most power, then countries would be willing to fight each other for wealth. During the late 15th and early 15th centuries, this theory drove European countries to create colonies and trade connections with Asian Empires. In doing this they believed they were gaining power through the wealth of land and resources.</span>

Functional conflict is sound, the helpful difference between gatherings or people, while the dysfunctional conflict is an undesirable contradiction that happens between gatherings or people.
