What mood is created in this excerpt from Dracula by Bram Stoker?

English
1 answer:
Burka [1]2 years ago
7 0

Answer:

I would content that the mood in this excerpt can be described as fearful, ominous, dark and suspenseful.

Explanation:

The author is describing a very fearful scene. Jonathan Harker is recalling the day he rode in a carriage in order to visit Count Dracula at his castle. Even though the townspeople advised him not to travel there, specially on the eve of St.George's day, he did it. In this excerpt he is describing what he experienced on board of the caleche (driven by Dracula's servant) to which he transferred at some point during the journey. The driver had left momentarily and the English man was left alone, surrounded by scary wolves and scared horses. The terrifying setting helps to create a fearful and suspenseful mood, but one that, nevertheless, captivates the reader . One cannot avoid but to wonder what will happen next.

  • Contentment is the act of being satisfied with the little one has. The excerpt described a character who is content with his life even though he lives in a deplorable house.

  • He still enjoys his meals and is not so worried about his living conditions. So, option C is right.
