Answer:

B. active listening

Explanation:

Listening

Listening is more than just hearing something. It requires thoughtful attention and interpretation to better understand meaning.

You know how to hear something, since hearing occurs naturally. But do you know how to pay thoughtful attention to what you hear? This lesson will instruct you about how to be a more effective listener.

There are two ways to listen: active and passive.

Active listening involves hearing something in an interactive way. Listening closely to song lyrics so you can better understand their meaning is an example of active listening.

Passive listening involves hearing something without any engagement or interaction. Hearing a song on the radio without paying attention to the lyrics is an example of passive listening.

Be sure to take notes on key points throughout this lesson. What key points have you learned so far about listening?

Empathetic listening occurs when you imagine yourself in the other person’s position and try to understand what he or she is thinking or feeling. The speaker feels valued and respected since the listener responds with feeling or compassion.

Situations that require empathetic listening include

personal conversations with friends or family; and

one-on-one conversations with a co-worker or teacher.

Preparation

Imagine that a college representative has come to talk to your class. This individual’s presentation will help you make important decisions about the steps you need to take to choose a college. Clearly, it is very important that you listen closely.

Think About It

How might you prepare to listen to this speaker?

There are a number of things you can do to prepare for this kind of speaker.

Find out about the subject that will be discussed. In this case, it is

college admissions requirements;

college application process;

courses offered; and

financial aid options.

Block out all distractions during the presentation. For example, you should

turn off your cell phone;

not sit next to a friend who may distract you; and

select a seat where you can see and hear the speaker clearly.

Write down questions you have or ideas you want to learn more about.

How do I decide on choosing a college?

What degree programs are offered?

Can I afford to go to college?

Listening carefully to a song's lyrics so you can better understand its meaning is?

PLZ PLZ PLZ HELP
ANTONII [103]

Answer:

B

Explanation:

Look through the answer choices and eliminate the ones that don't make sense:

A. "Love alone is the answer to all problems"; the excerpt mentions nothing about love, so we can say that this is irrelevant and thus, wrong.

B. "Some hard situations must be faced alone"; this is very likely because the excerpt said that "Mowgli went down the hillside alone". In addition, this could be characterized as a "hard situation" because this is the first time Mowgli is going to face his species - humans. We can imagine that it will be hard on Mowgli to realize that these people are his "family".

C. "Beauty fades, but goodness lasts"; again, the excerpt doesn't talk about beauty or goodness. It does mention dawn beginning to break, but it doesn't elaborate on it or make us think that it might be talking about the fleeting beauty of the dawn. Eliminate C.

D. "Solutions to problems are found in nature"; similar to above, the excerpt doesn't discuss how nature can solve all problems. Actually, the main focus isn't on nature but on human society because Mowgli is headed toward the men.

Thus, B is the answer.

Hope this helps!

Hamlet's hammartia or tragic flaw could include all of the following EXCEPT
Schach [20]
1. Hamlet's tragic flaw is everything enlisted above, except for 'a melancholy love sickness which leads to temporary insanity'. He wasn't in love, not really, so this sentence refers to Ophelia, not Hamlet.
2. Hamlet pretends to be insane so as to 'conceal his attempts to get information regarding Claudius' guilt'. He didn't want his uncle to realize what he was trying to accomplish, so it was easier for him to pretend to be mad so that nobody would pay any attention to him.
