multiply the number of ounces by the price per ounce

Blue jelly beans cost 0.28 per ounce and there are 4 ounces

 4 * 0.28 = 1.12

red jelly beans cost 0.55 per ounce and there is 3 ounces

3 *0.55 = 1.65

now add the totals: 1.12 +1.65 = 2.77

 this is more than the total they want of 2.20

 so it is not reasonable.

In a certain clothing store, 3 shirts and 5 ties cost $60, and 2 shirts and 3 ties cost $39. What is the cost of each shirt?
Dovator [93]
Let shirts be x and ties be y
3x+5y=$60    Equation 1 (Equation 1 will be denoted by *)
2x+3y=$39    Equation 2 (Equation 2 will be denoted by !)
*x2  6x + 10y = $120
!x3  6x + 9y = $117
*-!  y = 120-117 =3

Ties are $3 each
Substitute this value back into one of the original 2 equations:
3x+5y=$60
3x+(5x3) = 60
3x+15=60
3x=45
x=15

Shirts are $15

A blank CD can hold 70 minutes of music. So far you have burned 25 minutes of music onto the CD. You estimate that each song las
zaharov [31]

Answer:

The possible numbers of songs that you can burn onto the CD is 11.

Step-by-step explanation:

The total storage capacity of CD =  70 minutes

Storage already used = 25 minutes

Hence, The available storage =  Total available  storage -  Used Storage

= 70 minutes - 25  minutes = 45 minutes

Hence, the CD has 45 minutes storage left.

Now, each song takes up 4 minutes of storage.

⇒ \textrm{Total number of songs possible} =  \frac{\textrm{Total storage left}}{\textrm{Time taken by each song}}

= \frac{45 minutes}{4minutes }  = 11.25

⇒The number of songs possible = 11.25 ≈  11

Hence, the possible numbers of songs that you can burn onto the CD is 11.

A hotel is in the shape of a cylinder, with a circular foundation. the circumference of the foundation is 4 times the radius,
Marat540 [252]
Let
C-------> the length of a circumference

C=2*pi*r-----> equation 1

we know that
in this problem-----> <span>the circumference of the foundation is 4 times the radius, increased by 114 ft
</span>so
C=4*r+114------> equation 2
(1)=(2)
2*pi*r=4*r+114------> 2*pi*r-4*r=114-----> r*[2*pi-4]=114---> r=114/[2*pi-4]
r=114/[2*pi-4]-----> 50 ft

the answer is
r=50 ft
