n=2

8+8(8-n)=40+8n (distribute 8 through the parenthesis)

8+64-8n=40-8n (add the numbers)

<em>72-</em>8n=40+8n (move the variable to the left side and change its sign)

<em>72</em><em>-</em>8n+8n=40

-8n+8n=40<em>-72</em> (connect like terms)

-16n = -32 (divide both sides by -16)

<u><em>n=2</em></u>

8 + 8(8 - n) = 40 + 8n

8 + 64 - 8n = 40 + 8n     <em>distributed 8 on the left side</em>

     72 - 8n = 40 + 8n      <em>added like terms on the left side</em>

     32 - 8n = 8n              <em>subtracted 40 from both sides</em>

     32        = 16n             <em>added 8n to both sides</em>

      2         =  n                <em>divided both sides by 2</em>

Answer: n = 2

Jane is saving to buy a cell phone. She is given a $100 gift to start and saves me
Dmitriy789 [7]

Answer:

See explanation

Step-by-step explanation:

Jane is given a $100 gift to start and saves $35 a month from her allowance.

  • After 1 month, Jane has saved \$100+\$35=\$135;
  • After 2 months, Jane has saved \$100+2\cdot \$35=\$170;
  • After three months, Jane has saved \$100+3\cdot \$35=\$205;
  • and so on

In general, after x months Jane has saved

\$100+x\cdot \$35=\$(100+35x).

This means that it makes sense to represent the relationship between the amount saved and the number of months with one constant rate (in this case the constant rate is 35). It makes sense because the amount of money increases by $35 each month. Since the amount of increase is constant, we get constant rate. Also the initial amount is known ($100), so there is a possibility to write the equation of linear function representing this situation.

HELP!!!
Lady_Fox [76]

the construction of fields of formal infinite series in several variables, generalizing the classical notion of formal Laurent series in one variable. Our discussion addresses the field operations for these series (addition, multiplication, and division), the composition, and includes an implicit function theorem.
