The buses were segregated black people had to sit at the back of the bus while white people sat in "whites only" seats. If the buses were crowded and a white person had no where to sit a black person would be told to give up their seat. You would not see a black person sitting by a white person. (Rosa Parks was asked to give up her seat but she refused and got arrested. This is one of the things that started protest against segregation) <span />
