Answer: a burger is $5.25, fries are $1.50

b = burger, f = fries
3b + 3f = 20.25
5b + 8f = 38.25

First, solve for b in terms of f
3b = 20.25 - 3f
b = 6.75 -f

Then substitute that for b in the other equation to solve and get a numerical value for f.

5(6.75 -f) + 8f = 38.25
33.75 -5f +8f = 38.25
33.75 + 3f = 38.25
3f = 4.5
f = 1.5

Now substitute that in to get a numerical value for b
b = 6.75 - 1.5
b = 5.25

Checking the math:
3b + 3f = 20.25
3(5.25) + 3(1.5) = 15.75 + 4.5 = 20.25

For the reaction,

CO(g) + H_2 O(g) = CO_2(g) + H_2(g)

Initial concentration:

<u>0.1M</u> , <u>0.1M</u> , <u>0</u> , <u>0</u>

Let 'x' mole per litre of each of theproduct be formed.

At equilibrium:

<u>(0.1 – x)M</u> , <u>(0.1 – x)M</u> , <u>xM</u> , <u>xM</u>

where x is the amount of Carbon dioxide and Hydrogen, at equilibrium.

Hence, equilibrium constant can be written as,

K_c = \frac{x²}{(0.1 – x)²} = 4.24

→ x² = 4.24 (0.01 + x² – 0.2x)

→ x² = 0.0424 + 4.24 x² - 0.848x

→ 3.24x² - 0.848x + 0.0424 = 0

<em>a = 3.24, b = -0.848, c = 0.0424</em>

(for quadratic equation ax² + bx+c=0)

x =  \frac{( - b \: ± \: \sqrt{ {b}^{2} - 4ac) } }{2a}

=  > x =  \frac{ - ( - 0.848 \: ± \:  \sqrt{( - 0.848)^{2} - 4(3.24)(0.0424) } }{2 \times 3.24}

=  > x =  \frac{ - 0.848±0.4118}{6.48}

x_1 =  \frac{0.848 - 0.4118}{6.48} = 0.067

x_2 =  \frac{0.848 + 0.4118}{6.48} = 0.194

Here, the value 0.194 should be neglected because it will give concentration of the reactant which is more than initial concentration.

∴ The equilibrium concentrations are :-

[CO_2] [H_2] = x = 0.067M

[CO] [H_2 O] = 0.1 - 0.067 = 0.033M

A new car battery is sold with a two-year warranty whereby the owner gets the battery replaced free of cost if it breaks down du
lara [203]

Answer:

a) 0.1587 = 15.87% probability that a battery will break down during the warranty period.

b) The expected profit of the auto store on a battery is of $15.239.

c) The expected monthly profit on batteries if the auto store sells an average of 500 batteries a month is of $7,619.50.

Step-by-step explanation:

Normal Probability Distribution:

Problems of normal distributions can be solved using the z-score formula.

In a set with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, the z-score of a measure X is given by:

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

The Z-score measures how many standard deviations the measure is from the mean. After finding the Z-score, we look at the z-score table and find the p-value associated with this z-score. This p-value is the probability that the value of the measure is smaller than X, that is, the percentile of X. Subtracting 1 by the p-value, we get the probability that the value of the measure is greater than X.

The life of batteries is known to be normally distributed with a mean and a standard deviation of 40 and 16 months, respectively.

This means that \mu = 40, \sigma = 16

a. What is the probability that a battery will break down during the warranty period?

Two year warranty, that is, 24 months. This probability is the pvalue of Z when X = 24. So

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

Z = \frac{24 - 40}{16}

Z = -1

Z = -1 has a pvalue of 0.1587.

0.1587 = 15.87% probability that a battery will break down during the warranty period.

b. What is the expected profit of the auto store on a battery?

1 - 0.1587 = 0.8413 probability of a profit of $20.

0.1587 probability of a loss of $10. So

E = 0.8413*20 - 0.1587*10 = 15.239

The expected profit of the auto store on a battery is of $15.239.

c. What is the expected monthly profit on batteries if the auto store sells an average of 500 batteries a month?

Multiplying the average for a battery by 500. So

15.239*500 = $7,619.50

The expected monthly profit on batteries if the auto store sells an average of 500 batteries a month is of $7,619.50.

Answer:

  a.  36°

Step-by-step explanation:

The same figure will reappear when rotated 360°/10 = 36° about the center.

___

<em>Comment on the question</em>

The question as worded is nonsense. If the figure is rotated at all, there is not enough information to tell what the angle of rotation might be.
