Benjamin Franklin's political cartoon of 1754 which depicted a snake cut into several pieces sent a message to the fragmented American colonies to unite and fight against threats.

This cartoon, called as 'Join or Die', called for the intervention of the British Crown in uniting the American colonies and advocated the support of the Albany Plan of Union which was subsequently a plan to unify the colonies under a strong central government.

The cartoon demonstrated the need for the American colonies to unite against the French government and its allies. It sent a strong message that if the colonies do not unite, they would surely be defeated by the enemy.
