Answer:

142 square meters

Step-by-step explanation:

     Big rectangle Area = LxW = 18 x9= 162

White triangle Area A = (ab)/2 legs 5 and 8 ( 18-10= 8 )

= (5x8)/ 2 = 20

Subtract white triangle from green rectangle

162-20 = 142

    OR

area left rectangle LxW 10x9 = 90

area right rectangle LxW 4x8 =32

area green triangle ( sides 5 an8 ) (ab)/2 = 20

90+32+20 = 142

151 meters² is the correct answer!

First, find the area of the rectangle:

10 x 9 = 90

Second, find the area of the triangle:

9 x 18 = 162

162 ÷ 2 = 81

Third, find the area of the triangle "inside" of the rectangle and subtract it from the bigger triangle:

9 - 5 = 4

4 x 10 = 40

40 ÷ 2 = 20

Then it all comes together:

90 + (81 - 20) = 151

(BTW, it's actually 15 points because 30 points gets split between two people.)

Sam has twice as many books as Jim. If Sam gives 12 books to Jim, they will have the same number of books. How many books do the
Neko [114]

Alright, lets get started.

Suppose number of books Jim have = x

Sam has twice as many books as Jim. So,

Number of books Sam have = 2x

If Sam gives 12 books to Jim, they will have the same number of books.

When Sam gives 12 books, his remaining books will be = 2x - 12

When Jim gets 12 books from Sam, his books will be = x + 12

And as per given question, they both now have equal books, so

2x - 12 = x + 12

Adding 12 in both sides

2x - 12 + 12 = x + 12 + 12

2x = x + 24

Subtracting x from both sides

2x - x = x + 24 - x

x = 24

It means Jim has number of books = 24

So, Sam has numberof books = 24 * 2 = 48

So, they have number of books together = 24 + 48 = 72 : Answer

Hope it will help :)
