cemented Pan-Hellenic identity, saw cooperation on an unprecedented scale, showed Greek military superiority over the Persians. Athens emerged as the rivals of Sparta for military prestige.

The Battle of Marathon was significant because it proved to the Greeks that the Persians were not 'invincible', which boosted the moral of the Greek troops, increasing their confidence to incline themselves in a common cause if the Persian attacked again (which I believe  they would).

Battle of Marathon, (September 490 bce), in the Greco-Persian Wars, decisive battle fought on the Marathon plain of northeastern Attica in which the Athenians, in a single afternoon, repulsed the first Persian invasion of Greece.

The significance of the battle for Western Civilization

While the Battle of Thermopylae was technically a defeat for the Greeks, it was also a victory in the long run because it marked the beginning of several important Greek victories against the Persians and boosted the morale of all the Greek city-states

How did Casablanca deliver a political message?
faust18 [17]

Casablanca is an exploration of the universal themes of love and sacrifice, but when the film was released in 1942, audiences viewed it as a political allegory about World War II. The film is set in December 1941, the month in which the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. That attack changed the course of American history, awakening the nation from political neutrality and thrusting it into the midst of World War II. Casablanca tells the story of a similar, though much smaller, awakening. At the beginning of the film, Rick is a cynical bar owner in the Moroccan city of Casablanca who drinks only by himself and doesn't care about politics. By the end of the film, he has become a self-sacrificing idealist, committed to the anti-Nazi war effort. The event that prompts this change in Rick is the appearance of Ilsa, his old flame, in Casablanca. Ilsa's arrival is unexpected and devastating, and it hits Rick just as hard as the Japanese sneak attack on Pearl Harbor hit America. Once Rick overcomes the initial pain, his moral sense is reignited. He doesn't get to live happily ever after with Ilsa, but he accepts the necessity of his sacrifice and the heartbreak that accompanies it. I

Which statement is not true about the Plessy v. Furguson case? A. It promoted the creation of Jim Crowe laws B. It paved the way
gayaneshka [121]

Answer:

The correct answer is B. It is not true that the Plessy v. Ferguson case paved the way for the Little Rock 9 to attend Central High School.

Explanation:

Plessy v. Ferguson was a landmark case decided by the Supreme Court in 1896 that ruled on the constitutionality of the right of the states of the Union to impose racial segregation in public places under the "separate but equal" doctrine.

The court decided, by 7 votes to 1, to declare that segregation in the southern states did not violate the Constitution (in particular the 14th Amendment which stated that all citizens were equal before the law). Judge Henry Billings Brown, speaking for the majority that approved the decision, said that the segregation done in the state of Louisiana did not imply inferiority, in the eyes of the law, of African Americans and that the separation by race in public places and services was a mere political issue. The dissenting voice within the Court, Judge John Marshall Harlan, strongly condemned his colleagues and said that this decision would be as negatively striking as the "Dred Scott Case". He added that the law of the United States did not state that the country had a caste system, that the constitution did not see the color of its citizens' skin and that everyone was equal under the law. Several jurists agreed with Harlan and the nation was divided over it. The southern states, however, rejoiced that their system of segregation by race now had a legal basis to support itself.
