Answer: The statement that is FALSE is D (The death-promoting members of the Bcl2 family include Bcl2 itself.)

Explanation:

Apoptosis is a process found in multicellular organisms whereby cells follows a order of events which eventually leads to their death without releasing harmful substances into the surrounding area of the cells. Through this process, old cells, unnecessary cells, and unhealthy cells are eliminated from the body.

The process of apoptosis can be regulated by cell regulator proteins such as Bcl-2 family.

Bcl-2 stands for B-cell lymphoma 2 which are encoded in human cells by BCL2 gene. The Bcl-2 family are capable of regulating apoptosis by either inducing it or inhibiting it.

Bcl-2 and Bcl-XL, PREVENT apoptosis by preventing the release of mitochondrial apoptogenic factors such as cytochrome c and AIF (apoptosis-inducing factor) into the cytoplasm

Part of the Bcl-2 family is the Bax and Bak and they are the core regulators of the intrinsic pathway of apoptosis. They PROMOTE apoptosis by inducing the release of cytochrome c from mitochondria into the cytosol. Therefore, the death-promoting members of the Bcl2 family does not include Bcl2 itself.

What is a major problem with using foreign cells grown in culture for transplantation in humans?
soldi70 [24.7K]

The major problem with using foreign cells grown in culture for transplantation in humans is the host immune system would destroy such cells.

The body of your child is shielded from external invaders by the immune system. These include poisons, bacteria, viruses, fungus, and other types of germs (chemicals made by microbes). The various organs, cells, and proteins that make up the immune system cooperate with one another. Infections like measles, mono (mononucleosis), and the flu virus can also temporarily impair immunity. Additionally, unhealthy eating habits, alcoholism, and smoking might impair your immune system.

Antigens, which are proteins on the surface of the invading cells, are used by the immune system to identify invaders. Every substance or cell has a unique set of antigens, and every person's cells include "self-antigens" that are particular to that person.

Helen [10]

Answer:

Averaging the fitness of its members.

Explanation:

The fitness of a whole population can also be determined by averaging the fitness of its members. Absolute fitness is the ratio between the number of individuals with a genotype before selection versus after selection. Fitness is usually discussed in terms of genotypes, or collection of genes.
