Do you need help writing your thesis?
One possible interpretation of it is the foolishness of humankind to try and assume the powers of God. Daedalus succeeded in his attempts to fly with home-made wings, but was careful in his flight not to get to close to the Sun. His son Icarus got carried away, DID fly too close to the Sun despite his father's warnings, which resulted in the wax holding the feathers together in his wings to melt and for him to fall to his death. If the Sun represents God, Daedalus can be taken to represent the sensible and humble aspect of humanity that makes no assumptions that it is equal to Him and respects it's place in the hierarchy of Creation, whereas Icarus can be taken to be the arrogant, know-all aspect of humanity that believes that it can discount God as the final almighty power and meets a sticky end as a result. It's a bit like a diluted version of Milton's 'Paradise Lost'.
WHAT ARE YOUR CHOICES?
