This question is about "Sweat" by Zora Neale Hurston

Answer:

The literary device is the allusion.

Explanation:

The Jordan River is mentioned in the story, as a way of referring to its meaning, in the lives of the characters. The Jordan River means the liberation that a people can achieve. When referring to this river, the author uses the literary device called Allusion, which allows the meaning of this river to be used in this narrative.

Night of the spadefoot toads in chapter 11 pages 135-139 what was it about
Fofino [41]
In chapter 11, Mrs. Tibbits and Ben just get back from toad watching because it was raining. Mrs. Tibbits tells Ben the reason why her sister-in-law wants to sell the house. Developers want to purchase the property to build on it. Ben realizes this is not good because the Spadefoot toads are endangered and if developers indeed purchase the property and build there, the spadefoot toads will no longer be able to lay their eggs and will probably become extinct. Ben is trying to hatch a plan to help Mrs. Tibbits in this situation.

2. What makes Wilson most angry at the pilot?
This is from Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" short story
mel-nik [20]

Wilson was irritated with the pilot because he deliberately ignored his warnings.

What did Wilson warn the pilot?

 • The plane was being sabotaged.
 • A man was ripping the engine plates.
 • Everyone was in danger.

As much as Wilson warned about the man who was damaging the plane's engine, he was ignored by the pilot who acted as if Wilson was crazy or trying to scare the passengers. This provoked Wilson's ire.

This kind of behavior indirectly characterizes Wilson, as it shows how much he dislikes being ignored or discredited.
