Answer:

x = 5, y = 2.

Explanation:

If the figure is a parallelogram then opposite sides are equal and parallel so y = -x + 7 and 2y + 4x = 24.

We can write y = -x + 7 as x + y = 7, so we have:

x + y = 7          (1)

4x + 2y = 24      (2)

Multiply (1) by 2:

2x + 2y = 14

Subtract this from (2):

2x = 10

x = 5.

So from (1):

5 + y = 7

y = 2.

What is not an example of nonfiction?

newspaper
biography
directions
novel
Korolek [52]
Fiction is fantasy, make believe, not based on anything really true. There are branches of fiction, but this is just for the general fiction category.
Nonfiction is based on true facts. Bibliography's, autobiographies, newspapers and more are examples of nonfiction
A is a newspaper, so it's nonfiction
B is also nonfiction, as a biography is the story of one's life, all true events
C is directions. They tell you where to go, so it's nonfiction I suppose
D. Novels are generally FICTION, there ARE nonfiction novels, but this is your correct answer.

Read this excerpt from Theodore Roosevelt’s "Duties of American Citizenship" speech:
Y_Kistochka [10]

Considering the tone and the message in the excerpt, I believe the correct answer to be option C: "All people should dedicate a fair amount of their time to politics", this is because of the way Roosevelt says that everyone has a civic duty and there is no excuse that justifies not fulfilling said duty. He also says that voting is the least a person could do and by doing so, is not to be regarded as a "good citizen" since they could be doing more. So basically, it isn't option A or B or D, especially this last one since he condemns people who vote not just those who do not vote.
