Answer:

#4 describe the hurtgen forest...

Wilson's leadership and tactical skills were sharpened in the hurtgen because of his previous experience with differing terrain conditions on the battlefield. hurtgen was a heavily wooded forest located on the German Belgian border he described it as a hundred square mile force of steep hills rough ridges and deep ravines. the forest had low visibility. wilson didn't think digging trenches was the answer I'm this location but he thought moving further up the hill because gullies were natural targets for German artillery and he was right because the area was soon shelled and luckily the troops were not there. he followed his tactical skills and he considered the dense terrain. he suggested that attacking in a column of platoons would work that way we can have our men closer together we can control them and we can defend better. Wilson relied on scouts and radioing ahead to other regiments to communicate about enemy.movement. He had his troops create fields of fire which allowed them to clear brush and cut off tree limbs that might otherwise obscure or obstruct their view of the enemy. The field of fire we're not large open Fields but rather small clearings and meadows that allowed them to be within the woods but able to fire out to the open area beyond. finally Wilson ordered that his company take the small village of gross house it was a key to rain because it was vital to their attack plans they took the town easily and chose an avenue of approach that was unprotected and surprised the Germans from behind the town function as a command post for upcoming attacks.

Who was Willie Lynch
jonny [76]

Answer:

The master of a modest plantation

Explanation:

The reputed author, William Lynch, identifies himself as the master of a "modest plantation" in the British West Indies who has been summoned to the Virginia Colony by local slaveowners to advise them on problems they have been having in managing their slaves.

He briefly notes that their current violent method of handling unruly slaves – lynching, though the term is not used – is inefficient and counterproductive. Instead, he suggests that they adopt his method, which consists of exploiting differences such as age and skin color in order to pit slaves against each other. This method, he assures his hosts, will "control the slaves for at least three hundred [sic] years."[1] Some online versions of the text attach introductions, such as a foreword attributed to Frederick Douglass, or citations falsely giving Lynch's name as the source of the word "lynching".[2]

The text of the speech has been published since at least 1970.[2] It appeared on the Internet as early as 1993, when a reference librarian at the University of Missouri–St. Louis posted the document on the library's Gopher server.[4] The librarian later revealed that she had obtained the document from the publisher of a local annual business directory, The St. Louis Black Pages[5] in which the narrative had recently appeared.[4]

Though eventually convinced the document was a forgery, the librarian elected to leave it on the Gopher server, as she believed that "even as an inauthentic document, it says something about the former and current state of African America", but added a warning about its provenance.[4]

The text contains numerous anachronisms, including words and phrases such as "refueling" and "fool proof" which were not in use until the early 20th century,[3] while historian Roy Rosenzweig noted the divisions emphasized in the text – skin color, age, and gender – are distinctly 20th-century in nature, making little sense in an 18th-century context.[2]

As such, historians such as Rosenzweig and William Jelani Cobb of Spelman College regard the William Lynch speech as a hoax.[2][3]

Why were bank failures common during the Depression?
Lera25 [3.4K]
Another phenomenon that compounded the nation's economic woes during the Great Depression was a wave of banking panics or “bank runs,” during which large numbers of anxious people withdrew their deposits in cash, forcing banks to liquidate loans and often leading to bank failure.Apr 23, 2010

15 facts about French Revolution
labwork [276]

Answer:

Prior to the beginning of the French Revolution peasants were so poor and the cost of food so high that many starved to death. A loaf of bread was equal to a week's wages.

The rich were born rich - and vice versa. A person could not work to become wealthy - it could only happen by birth. The French Revolution changed this dismal fate for France's citizens.

While the poor in France were starving the wealthy lived a life of extravagance. This imbalance caused extreme resentment and anger. The poor had to pay taxes to the king while the rich did not.

When the French Revolution began and the Bastille was stormed on July 14th, 1789, only seven prisoners were found inside.

The French revolutionaries stormed the Bastille in search of gunpowder; they were not as interested in the prisoners.

Charles Dickens wrote a book that was set during the French Revolution titled A Tale of Two Cities.

Prior to the French Revolution, it was illegal to worship as a Protestant or as a Jew. These religions were illegal. After the Revolution people were free to follow these religions.

The French Revolution resulted in the freeing of 10,000 African slaves.

During the French Revolution many people were sent to The Guillotine to be beheaded. Many more were beheaded in the years following the French Revolution as well - in an era known as the 'Reign of Terror.'

It is estimated that as many as 40,000 people were executed at The Guillotine during the French Revolution and the Reign of Terror that followed.

King Louis XVI was beheaded on January 12th, 1793. The charge that led to his execution suggested that he had conspired with Austria and Prussia, enemies of France at the time.

King Louis XVI's wife Marie Antoinette was seen by the people of France as someone who flaunted her wealth and privilege and this created a great deal of resentment towards her as well. She was eventually beheaded, just like her husband.

One of the main leaders of the French Revolution was Maximilien de Robespierre. He was known for sending his opponents and others to the Guillotine. In 1794 he was captured and beheaded himself.

In the years following Robespierre's execution Napoleon Bonaparte seized power of France.

France celebrates its Independence Day on July 14th each year with a parade on the Champs Elysees, followed by many other events and festivities such as dances, concerts and parties around the country.
