Answer:

It has cartoons because it has stick figures that help you make a picture in your mind. Some other novels have an adventure like a sword fight not a kid in school. Books that I have read are like chapters and comics and so there is a big difference in novels.

The cartoons in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series affect the story by adding in that extra element, making the audience interested. They add to the story's plot by showing readers what's happening through pictures. For example, if Greg is assigned to wash dishes by his parents, the cartoon provided will show just that. Besides the cartoons, I think Diary of a Wimpy Kid is different from other novels I have read because they give an insight on middle school life in a character's point of view.
