         She was one of the women who went to court to fight for her case after being accused of witchcraft. She went to Court because she was not doing witchcraft, and she and her family were trying to prove it.

2. Who was Samuel Parris, and why was his new role in Salem the subject of debate?

          Samuel Parris was a reverend, and he thought that witchcraft was not a thing. His new role was a subject of debate because he was debating and arguing for the people accused.

3. Who was the first in Salem to become “afflicted,” and how did this “affliction” spread?

        The first to become ‘afflicted’ was Bridget Bishop. The “afflictions” were spread because of people contracting the same thing from nearby.

4.Who was Tituba, and why was she arrested for “witchcraft?”

           Tituba was one of the women who was accused of witchcraft. She admitted it, and was arrested

5.Why did Sarah Cloyce believe that Ann Carr Putnam might accuse her and her sisters (Rebecca Nurse and Mary Eastey)?

          She believed that Ann Carr Putnam might accuse her because Ann Carr Putnam was already testifying against people in the town.

          He had pleaded not guilty and was going against the court.

7.How was “spectral evidence” used to condemn the accused, and of what economic status were most of them?

       The spectral evidence was that people were accused because of religion. Most of the people in Salem were wealthy merchants.

       It is meant that they were possessed by some sort of illness, but not by witchcraft.

9. Why did Governor Phips eventually suspend the trials and order the release of the prisoners?

      Governor Phips wife was accused, so he eventually suspended the trials and released the prisoners.

10. How many people fell victim to this “witch hunt,” and according to Sarah documented evidence, what was responsible for it?

      20 people were accused. Abigail Williams began the witch hunt by accusing neighbors of witchcraft.
