What central metaphor runs throughout James Baldwin's notes of a native son?
natita [175]

Baldwin not only describes how white people hate black people, but also shows why black people carry the same act. At one point in his book, he writes: “I imagine that one of the reasons people cling to their hates so stubbornly is because they sense, once hate is gone, that they will be forced to deal with pain.” It is the representation of a post-hate state: the hate is gone, but the process continues - the person suffers the consequences of his acts after realizing what he has done. The correct answer is B.

How does swift insert want he considers to be real solutions to Ireland's problem into his satire
Burka [1]
Even though Swift is not suggesting that the rich people in Ireland start eating the babies of the poor, he is still suggesting some realistic solutions. Most of all he is pointing out that the rich need to start doing something to balance out the economy and support the lower classes, instead of treating them like cattle. Comparing them to cattle by suggesting they eat babies points out this flaw of society and that it needs to be changed.

The authors write, “Frida often went further than Diego in expressing her 'Mexican-ness'”(3). What do they mean?
irinina [24]

Answer:

Perhaps they mean that Frida feels more connected to her culture and is less embarassed of showing her, well, 'Mexican-ness' to society compared to Diego.

Explanation:

To go a little further in depth, we can conclude that Frida loves her culture and feels connected to it, and while Diego might also feel connected, he simply does not express it nearly as much as Frida does.

Hope this helps!
