Why is Hamlet able to act in Scene 4 but not in Scene 3? What does this tell readers and viewers about Hamlet’s character?
Gekata [30.6K]
Even in the Scene 3 (Act III), Hamlet is finally ready to act, having obtained the proof that Claudius has really arranged for his father's murder. However, he finds Claudius at prayer and once again refrains from action because he doesn't want to send him straight to heaven (as everyone who is killed during prayer will go to heaven, according to a common belief). So, Hamlet resolves to wait and kill Claudius when he finds him drunk, or angry, or in bed with his mother. He doesn't want to reward him. What Hamlet doesn't know is that Claudius can't really focus on his prayer, so it actually was a perfect moment to kill him.

In Scene 4, Hamlet demonstrates his readiness to act by killing Polonius, mistaking him for Claudius. This tells us that Hamlet isn't really a futile intellectual, incapable of acting and frozen in his own thoughts. He had only sought a proof that his uncle really deserves to die. Once he has this proof, he starts with his vengeance.

Think of a problem in your community, city, or state (traffic, pollution, crime, graffiti, homelessness, poverty, etc.). Write t
drek231 [11]

The correct answer to this question is the following.

My topic is Poverty.

My e-mail to a friend telling him about the problem and what you think should be done about it is the following.

Hi Peter,

I was taking the bus to campus and at the bus stop, some indigent people were asking for money. The worst part of it was that they were not seniors, intoxicated youngsters were asking for money.

I can't believe it, Peter, poverty is hitting hard in our community and the entire nation. We used to see seniors, but now, is common to see young people with a lack of opportunities.

Hope we can discuss this issue tomorrow in the social studies class.

Bye Bro!

The e-mail to my teacher would be this.

Mi Mr. Smith,

I have been talking with my fellow students about the issue of poverty in America. It seems the problem is getting worse. I have been noticing many young people in the streets, in parks, outside public buildings, asking for money.

Don't you think this would be an important issue for a discussion in class?

I would like to ask you. respectfully, to allow some time in class to address this problem and we would love to have your input.

Thank you, Mr. Smith, I know you will help us to proceed correctly.

The formal letter to send to my senator would be this.

Senator White,

On behalf of my classmates, I formally address you because we are very concerned with the growth of poverty in our community. A problem we have seen is growing in major American cities.

We, as the future of America, can't imagine how that future will be if we do not put an end to this issue. Every day, unemployment numbers rise, the cost of living increases, and companies lay off workers.

It is time to establish urgent solutions to create jobs and support quality education in America.

We want you to consider the following valid options:

1.- Notorious support for industries to reactivate the economy in our community.

2.- Reduction of taxes to increase the creation of new jobs.

3.- Create new legislation to foreign investment so multinational companies can establish in our region.

4.- State, regional, and national touristic promotion to invite people to visit our state and enjoy the many attractions we have here.

Thank you very much for your attention, and hope you can have an answer to our issues.

Sincerely yours,

The answer is C. You can tell from what the author says later on that the immigrant is carrying what looks like almost everything he owns. As you can infer the following text don’t not presume that the immigrant is not balanced in carrying his baggage, or pleasantly resting. D is an outlier so it only leaves you with the answer...C.
