I am not sure because I do not know what to reference this off of but B to me is the most similar. I look at it like "it cracked open" and "it split open" and feel like they relay the same message
with a metapjor it is easy to express your self without a more direct or personal feeling. It also helps the reader to capture a bigger idea or expression.
