y=mx + b is the standard slope intercept form for a line

m=1/2, b =-2

y=(1/2)x -2. y-intercept is -2 or the point (0,-2)

x intercept is found by setting y=0 and solving for x

0=(1/2)x - 2

(1/2)x = 2

x = 4 = the x intercept or (4,0)

plot the 2 intercepts (0,-2) and (4,0)

(4,0) is on the x axis, 4 units to the right of the origin (0,0)

(0,-2) is on the y axis, 2 units below the origin
