Mazyrski [523]

Answer:

-1.9f-20

Step-by-step explanation:

-2.7f+0.8f-16-4

<em>Collect similar items</em>

-2.7f+0.8f=-1.9f

=-1.9f-16-4

<em>Subtract the numbers</em>

-16-4=-20

=-1.9f-20

According to a research center, 16% of all merchandise sold in a particular country gets returned. A department store in a certa
Mamont248 [21]

Answer:

a) point estimate of the proportion of items returned for the population of sales transactions at the store in the given city

Point estimate = 0.3

b) The 95% confidence interval for the proportion of returns at the store in the given city

( 0.19958,0.40042)

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the Population proportion 'P'= 16% = 0.16

Given data a department store in a certain city sampled 80 items sold in January and found that 24 of the items were returned

The sample proportion p = \frac{x}{n}

here x =24 and n = 80

The sample proportion p = \frac{x}{n} = \frac{24}{80} = 0.3

a)<u> Point estimate</u>:-

A point estimate of the true proportion P

Point estimate = p = \frac{x}{n}

point estimate of the proportion of items returned for the population of sales transactions at the store in the given city

p = \frac{x}{n} = \frac{24}{80} = 0.3

b) <u>The 95%  confidence interval for the proportion </u>

The 95% confidence interval for the proportion of returns at the store in the given city

(p - z_{\alpha } \sqrt{\frac{p(1-p)}{n} } , p + z_{\alpha }\sqrt{\frac{p(1-p)}{n} } )

substitute all values we get ,

(0.3 - 1.96 \sqrt{\frac{0.3(1-0.3)}{80} } , 0.3 + 1.96\sqrt{\frac{0.3(1-0.3)}{80} } )

on simplification, we get

(0.3-0.10042 ,0.3+0.10042)

( 0.19958,0.40042)

<u>Conclusion</u>:-

a)  point estimate of the proportion of items returned for the population of sales transactions at the store in the given city

Point estimate = 0.3

b) The 95% confidence interval for the proportion of returns at the store in the given city

( 0.19958,0.40042)

A penny fell off the top of the building and hit the sidewalk below 3.1 seconds later how many meters did the penny fall to the
Sedbober [7]
To solve this we are going to use the free distance fallen formula: d=0.5gt^2
where
d is the distance
g is the gravity of Earth 9.8m/s^2
t is the time in seconds

We know from our problem that the penny fell off the top of the building and hit the sidewalk below 3.1 seconds later, so t=3.1. Lets replace the value in our formula:
d=0.5gt^2
d=0.5(9.8)(3.1)^2
d=47.089 meters

We can conclude that the penny fell a distance of 47.098 meters

6^2/2(3)+4= what is the answer
Lelechka [254]
6^2/2(3)+4
Follow the order of operations, (GEMDAS) which goes like this:
<em>grouping, exponents, multiplication/divison, addition/subtraction
</em>
First up is our grouping, specifically parentheses. While we do have parentheses in our expression there isn't anything going on <em>inside</em> of them that we'd have to do first. (The 2(3) is another way of writing 2×3.)

Next we have exponents, which would be our 6^2. (6 squared)
When something is squared, that means it is multiplied by itself. 6^2 = 6×6 = 36.

Now our expression is 36/2(3)+4.

Next we need to handle the multiplication and division. (order doesn't matter)
The best way to do this is from left to right. The 36/2 = 18...
Then 18(3) = 54.
If we took 36(3) then divided by 2 we would get the same answer.
However, what you <em>cannot</em> do is multiply the 2(3), simply because the 2 is a denominator of a fraction. If you don't know what this is or why, it's okay--just always do it left to right and you'll never have to worry about it.

Now our expression is 54+4.

Finally, we can handle the addition/subtraction. 54+4 leaves us with 58.
