Victoria has 2.50 pounds of bell peppers and the cost is $1.25. What is the price for 1 pound of bell peppers?
AleksAgata [21]

Answer:

The price of one pound of bell peppers is $0.6.

Step-by-step explanation:

This problem is equivalent to the following:

<em>"if 10 oranges cost $20, how much does 1 orange cost? "</em>

and the answer to that question is:

price of 1 orange  = $20/ 10 oranges = $2 per orange.

Put simply, we divided the total price by the total number of items, and we shall do the same thing for the case of bell peppers:

price of 1 pound  = $1.25/ 2.5 pounds = $0.5/ pound.

The price for 1 pound of bell peppers is $0.5.

Can the values be added or subtracted? If one value needs to be converted to another, describe the conversion.
vaieri [72.5K]
Okie, the terms are similar in that they both have inches, but they are in different forms. The first has inches to the 2nd power. This is a unit for area. The second has the units of inches to the 3rd power. This is a unit of volume. To convert from area to volume, you would need a conversion but it usually would be from a problem with certain values. Ex. Think of a cube, the 2 sides multiplied would be area and third multiplied in would be volume. If you are adding an area to a volume, you would need to know of which since you cannot change volume magically to area or area magically to volume if you do not know the details of the problem. The answer is A; I hope this helps :-)

find two consecutive even integers such that five times the first integer is equal to four times the second integer
drek231 [11]

Answer:

8 and 10

Step-by-step explanation:

All you need to know to begin setting this up is that to get from one even integer to the next consecutive even integer, add 2.

Start with  x = an even integer (yes, because you say so!)

Next even integer = x + 2

"five times the first integer is equal to four times the second integer"

5x = 4(x + 2)

Distribute the 4.

5x = 4x + 8

Subtract 4x

x = 8

The two integers are 8 and 10

5(8) = 4(10) as desired!
