Agata [3.3K]
This political cartoon is trying to show the importance of paying taxes. Taxes help to fund government programs that are critical to millions of American citizens. If taxes continue to get cut, people will continually be hurt as they will not receive the support they need.

The issue of taxes is always a relevant taxes. Many Americans complain about having to pay taxes and are constantly hoping for lower taxes. Even though this would result in more money in our paychecks, it would mean less services available by the government.

What do you think George Wallace meant by "It is ironical that this event occurs as we approach the celebration of Independence
ASHA 777 [7]

Well,

He believed very firmly in the rights of the states and local governments to control the outcome of their own future through choice separate from federal government. George Wallace was spreading how he perceived the situation by pointing out that when the federal government removes citizen's rights, it is a gloomy day for local people who share the belief that they should determine their own moral issues or their own course of social justice.

Following the 1963 Supreme Court decision in Gideon v. Wainright, all states began to provide legal representation to defendants
Anna11 [10]

Answer:

D. The right to a lawyer; it allows a defendant to always be able to defend themselves in a criminal case.

Explanation:

The famous Supreme Court case Gideon v. Wainright in 1963 was a case regarding a convict Clarence Earl Gideon, who had no legal representation and his pleas to be given a lawyer by the government. The ruling was in favor of Gideon and asked the state to provide a lawyer for the defendant.

According to the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution, every citizen has the right to equal protection under the law. And the 6th Amendment also states that criminal defendants have the right to get representation even if they cannot afford one. So, in respect to these two amendments, the Gideon v. Wainright case touched both issues and thus, gave the defendant the right to be represented by a lawyer and also be given the chance to defend himself in any criminal case.

Thus, the correct answer is option D.

The correct answer is D. Iraq and Afghanistan.

Explanation

The war in Afghanistan is a military conflict in which the United States fought against the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan that began in October 2001 and is still active. The main motivation of the United States and its allies to invade this country was the attacks of September 11, 2001. Therefore, the United States promoted an international effort to fight terrorism, which is why it focused on the search for the leader of terrorist Osama bin Laden. On the other hand, there is the Iraq War that originated because the United States accused Iraq of possessing weapons of mass destruction and collaborating with terrorism, participating as accomplices in the attacks of September 11, 2001. According to the above, the correct answer is D. Iraq and Afghanistan.
