Answer:

5%

Explanation:

If genes exhibit incomplete linkage, they are located on the same chromosme but some crossing over still occurrs between them during meiosis.

If the parental gametes are AX and ax and each of them appear with a frequency of 45%, then 90% of the gametes are parental and therefore 10% are recombinant.

Since there are two possible recombinant gametes (Ax and aX), each of them has a frequency of 5%.

The approximate frequency of the Ax gamete will be;

Parent genes = AX and ax

Recombinant gamete after crossing = aX and Ax

If each parental gamete is 45%, and there are two parents, therefore the frequency of parental gametes when combine is 90%, so the frequency of recombinant gametes (Ax and aX) is 10%.

So, if Ax and aX have frequency of 10%, Ax will have 1/2 × 10% = 5%

incomplete linkage occurs when the genes for different characters are separated at the time of gamete formation due to breaking and exchange of chromosome pieces during meiosis

Can recessive genes be expressed if the gene pair is heterozygous and why?
disa [49]

Answer:

Recessive alleles are denoted by a lowercase letter (a versus A). Only individuals with an aa genotype will express a recessive trait; therefore, offspring must receive one recessive allele from each parent to exhibit a recessive trait.
