Area = length x width

60 = (x+5) (x-2)

60 = x^2 + 3x -10

Subtract 60 from both sides:

x^2 +3x -70 = 0

Solve for x by finding 2 numbers when added together = 3 and when multiplied by each other = -70

x = -10 and 7

Since the sides have to be a positive number we need to use 7

The length = x+5 = 7+5 = 12 cm

The width = x-2 = 7-2 = 5 cm

a.) initial sample left : 794g

b.) Time taken to decay : 3.39

Isotopes(200g) are atoms that have the same number of protons in their nucleus, but a different number of neutrons. This means that they have the same atomic number, but a different atomic mass. Because of this, isotopes have different physical and chemical properties. Isotopes can be stable, meaning that they do not undergo radioactive decay, or they can be unstable, meaning that they will undergo radioactive decay over time.

a.)

Substituting 25 for t in the expression, we get:

A(25)=200e^{0.0541*25}

200e^{1.3525}

Thus, after 25 years, there will be 200e^{1.3525}=2003.97=>794 g of the initial sample left in the sample.

794

b.)

We want to find t such that A(t)=200e^{0.0541}

                                                   =100.

Solving for t, we get:

=200e^{0.0541}*t

=100

Dividing both sides by 200 and applying the natural logarithm to both sides, we get:

0.0541*t=ln(0.5)

Therefore, t= \frac{ln(0.5)}{0.0541}

                   =3.39 years.

R varies directly as S and inversely as T. if R = 8 when S = 4 and T = 3, then R is equal to
Alex

Answer:

R = 6S/T

Step-by-step explanation:

R ∝ S/ T

》R = kS/ T

》k = RT/ S

If R = 8 when S = 4 and T = 3

then, k = (8 × 3)/ 4

k = 6

∴ R = (6 × S)/ T

Does anyone know how to solve the equation ln 2 - ln(x - 8) = 4, giving nearly 80 points
RoseWind [281]

Answer:

x= 8.1353

x= 8.135 (rounded to the nearest tenth-thousandths)

x= 8.14 (rounded to the nearest thousandths)

x= 8.1 (rounded to the nearest tenth)

Step-by-step explanation:

Note I am not 100% sure with my answer

2 − ln (x − 8)= 4

−ln (x − 8) + 2= 4

−ln (x − 8) + 2 + −2= 4 + −2

−ln (x − 8)= 2

−ln (x − 8)/−1= 2/−1

ln (x − 8)= −2

<solve for the logarithm (ln)>

ln (x − 8)= −2

e^ln (x − 8)= e^−2

x − 8= e^−2

x − 8= 0.1353

x − 8 + 8= 0.1353 + 8

x= 8.1353
